The sprites would change as they took damage. PvZ's Wallnuts and Tallnuts, for example, would wince as they got eaten. It's not that the game is horrible, but it's generic. Where it is lacking, however, is character. The basic gameplay is the same (lanes, gather energy, defenders, etc.) But Riftbound goes beyond that, and makes for a more interesting game, and removes some of the busywork inherent in PvZ. But Plants vs Zombies 2 turned into microtransaction hell, so I thought it was going to end there. I used to love playing Plants vs Zombies.

The design isn't bad, but it lacks the joy that PvZ has/had.
